Kirk to hold hearing on Iran payments
Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said Sunday night that he’ll hold a hearing to get to the bottom of the $400 million cash payment to Iran, which the Obama administration has admitted was linked to the release of four U.S. hostages.

The group announced in January that it would focus on defeating Kirk and Sen. Ron Johnson in 2016, two of the more vulnerable senators up for reelection.

Duckworth ditched a Tuesday evening vote on legislation that would ensure “all Holocaust victims live with dignity, comfort, and security in their remaining years,” according to the official vote tally, which showed the lawmaker was one of 70 members to not vote on the measure.

“I reject our current posture of willful ignorance and inaction towards Iran’s terrorist activities, illegal missile testing, funding Assad’s war, and human rights abuses,” Senator Kirk said. “The Administration’s response cannot once again be it’s ‘not supposed to be doing that’ as Iran continues to walk all over U.S. foreign policy and the international community.
GOP senator: Sanctions will strengthen Iran deal
Kirk’s legislation would reimpose sanctions that have been rolled back by the Obama administration, as well as add additional ones, if a bargain over Iran’s nuclear program isn’t struck by the end of June, the current deadline for finalizing one.
